Listen Up!

There are rules, people. Rules. Halloween is in October. Not September. I don't want to see
Halloween decorations before the official start of fall, according to Linda's rules for living.
Here's how the seasons really lay out. Anyone who tells you different is just plain wrong.
Spring is March through May. Summer is June through August. September is a prelude to fall.
Fall is October through November. Winter is December through February.
March 1st is the first day of the new year. This is when you put out the spring things. In
June you put out more flowers. September is when you cut back on the flowers. In October
you take away the flowers and put out the golden leaves and other fall things. You are now
allowed to put out Halloween things. December, and not before, you can bring out Christmas
joy.
If you follow these rules, you're life will be much better and you will make me happy. That's
very important. Making me happy.

Time Keeps Slipping Away

I was thinking, I haven't done my blog for a couple of weeks. Then I checked the date on my latest blog. It was April. April!? Who stole my month!? Where did June go? Am I missing any other months? I have to be. My fourteen year old nephew is suddenly fifteen. My sixteen year old niece is about to turn seventeen. I have another niece who is a full grown adult who won't lend me money. Thank God, I have one nephew who's hanging in there. He still a young kid. I hope he stays that way for another ten years. By then I think I can handle his getting a little older.

New Year

12:00 AM Posted by Linda Henson , , , , , ,
I often thought why do we start a new year in the middle of winter. It makes more sense to start the new year around the beginning of spring. Spring is a new start. There are births and new growth from old growth. Everything seems fresh and new. Then I found out. We used to start the new year in the spring. Someone at sometime decided they wanted the new year to begin in January. It seems stupid to me and it seemed stupid to a lot of people. A lot of people kept celebrating the new year in the spring. This was not liked. Someone wanted to put a stop to this. So someone came up with a plan. They started calling the spring celebrators, April fools. That's right. The new year used to start on April 1st. Happy New Year!!!!
